Missionary Mom

I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in France.  It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but it was also one of the best things I have ever done for myself.  Fast forward twenty plus years and now I have three of my four kids serving missions.  I get so many comments when people find out that I have three missionaries.  It is usually starts with shock and disbelief. They wrack their brains to recall if they've ever known anyone that has ever had three kids out at once.  They tell me I should be in an Ensign article and they invariably ask me how I'm doing.  Dave and I joke that we are killing three birds with one stone and that we should write to Salt Lake and see if we can get a buy-two-get-one-free-deal. But in all honesty, I'm doing great.  Not that I've ever known any different, but having them all out at once is kind of great.  I get to miss them all at the same time and they get to all come hom...

And So It Begins...Again

Once upon a time in a land far away (ok, so the time was about 11 years ago and the land was Missouri), I thought it would be fun to start a blog.  I've always been terrible at keeping a journal so I reasoned with myself that blogging would be like keeping a journal, but with cool pictures of my memories attached.  Not only that, but I would be able to keep family near and far in the loop of all the fancy (and not-so-fancy) happenings in our life.  I was pretty good at it for a good four years, and then we moved, and apparently so did my desire to keep up with my blog.  Looking back now, I'm surprised and frankly quite impressed that I kept up with it for as long as I did.  I do feel slightly guilty every time my kids go back to my old blog posts and reminisce about my blogging days and read funny stories about themselves and admire their cute little faces.  I'm taking a social marketing class right now and one of our assignments is to start (or contin...
